DON'T FORGET WHAT COMES AFTER SAINTS!!!!

Greetings Friends!  It's been a minute since I've posted but all is well with me and I can proclaim with confidence that GOD IS STILL GOOD! I hope as you read this you can say the same!

We're only 31 days into the new year and already I've had to regroup mentally for the changes, challenges, and chaos this year is already showing us! But hang in there Help is on the way!

How do I know? "Cause the Bible tells me so!"

Speaking of the WORD, the Lord dropped a bit of spiritual insight on me this morning that I'd like to share.  Upon reading one of my devotionals, I came across what I thought was a familiar verse notation and upon reviewing it from the Bible found it wasn't what I thought it was.  It was the verse that came after!  What a gem of wisdom I would have missed if I hadn't gone just a little bit further in God's Word!

It got me wondering...about our deception of assumption... thinking you know the full meaning and context of a familiar scripture, simply because you've heard it so often.  Here are a few examples!

Psalms 37:4 - Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart... BUT
πŸ‘‰37:5 says: Commit your way to the Lord, Trust Him, (then) He shall bring your desires to pass. It makes a big difference doesn't it?  You can't just like what the Lord is doing, you've got to come with some responsibility and dedication of your own.

Romans 8:28And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good... THIS is usually where the speaker stops ignoring all the important things that follow. Here's the rest! ... for those who are called according to his purpose.
πŸ‘‰ 8:29 -For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.  Why is this important? We get pretty particular about the things God chooses to use to conform us to the image of His Son! Who wants to believe that suffering, persecution, disabilities and the like could actually be a Holy Calling?  Yet, we cite this verse as if we do!

Matthew 6:33 - Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Sounds like a simple way of getting anything you need from the Lord! Doesn't it? The previous verses did mention food, drink, clothing and shelter. The key to interpreting this verse is summarized in the one afterwards.
πŸ‘‰ Matthew 6:34 says: Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of  its own. Nowhere do we get to choose our meals, style of clothing or size of our homes, but isn't that what we spend considerable time doing? By skipping the next verse we miss the whole point. Our security is not in things but faith in our loving God!

How easy it is to get in the habit of quoting scriptures because they make us sound so spiritual, so brave, so stable....when truth be told to get the full benefit of God's Word we need to go FURTHER IN AND DEEPER DOWN!

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for
teaching, rebuking, correcting and training
in righteousness, so that the man of God may
be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
